In his preface to this book, lead editor Dr Emile Tompa says he agrees with the proposition that, as far as occupational safety and health is concerned, there has been a "lack of competency within the health and safety professions in techniques of economic evaluation".rnHe contends that a significant factor in why this should be the case is because there is almost no "focused methods guidance" specifically for OSH researchers and practitioners (as opposed to those personnel working in a clinical setting for whom such economic models do exist).
