摘要

The number of NHS staff suffering work-related injury or illness fell slightly last year, according to the latest NHS staff survey conducted by health watchdog the Healthcare Commission.rn160,000 workers from all 390 NHS trusts in England completed the 2008 survey between October and December last year. The results, which are used by trusts and the government to develop strategies to improve working conditions in the NHS, show that, across the NHS, manual handling injuries accounted for more injuries in 2008 than needlestick and sharps injuries and slips, trips and falls combined. Nine percent of staff said they had suffered moving and handling injuries in 2008, although the number was substantially higher (30 percent) among ambulance trust staff.
