Iraq study shows health briefing benefit

The first major study of the mental health of UK armed forces while they are on deployment has found around 20 per cent showed signs of experiencing symptoms of psychological distress, a similar rate to service personnel who are not on deployment. Researchers from the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London conducted the study in eight locations across Iraq in early 2009. 611 armed forces personnel (about 15 per cent of the UK personnel deployed in Iraq at the time) completed a questionnaire about their deployment experiences and health.
