A Textile worker was crushed to death when the baling machine he was cleaning started up. Gary Lee, an employee at Westwood Yarns' Washpit Mills factory, Huddersfield, received multiple crush injuries as he was first trapped horizontally by the force of one plate before a vertical compressing ram also operated. Bradford Crown Court heard that Mr Lee, who had worked at the company for over 20 years, had received no proper training in how to clean the baling machine when he was asked to carry out the task in January 2008.
