The combination has single or multi-valued actuators which are activated, where the combination is controlled by a standard master and a safety monitor or by a safety-based master. A set of safety output slaves and a set of safety input slaves are realized in a single device. Safety inputs and outputs of the slaves are firmly linked with each other depending upon position. The linking of the safety inputs and outputs is configured during starting up of the network.
