Project marina (MAnaging the Risks of NAnoparticles) was launched in Rome last November. Over the next four years, 100 scientists will develop reference methods for assessing and controlling risks to those potentially exposed to engineered nanoparticles or nanomaterials. Risk assessments will cover the entire life cycle of the material, and MARINA will also develop risk management strategies for minimising massive exposure via explosion or environmental spillage.
