9/11 legacy

One of the lesser-known legacies of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the US is the impact they had on the health of the survivors and emergency workers who were on the scene, with exposure to toxic materials and dust linked to respiratory problems, musculoskeletal disorders and cancer, and the traumatic events linked to mental health conditions. The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010 established the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program which is administered by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and provides medical monitoring and treatment for responders to the attacks.
