At the end of last year, the final Safety Groups UK (SGUK) open meeting of 2014 took place at Bangor University. Hosted by the North West Wales Health & Safety Group (NWWHSG), the meeting was a great opportunity to review SGUK's work over the previous 12 months and to set out plans for 2015. SGUK chairman, John Cairns, opened the meeting with an update on SGUK activities including the Health Risks at Work (HRAW) initiative, which is SGUK's major long-term campaign. Every organisation, large or small, is invited to become involved in HRAW, which aims to identify and manage the common risks to health associated with work activities. The initiative focuses on work-related risks to: breathing; skin; muscles, bones and joints; hearing and touch; and wellbeing.
