The Department for Education (DfE) has issued two sets of guidelines to help schools understand their health and safety obligations, including when undertaking educational visits and other out of school activities. "All schools should regularly monitor and review their health and safety policies to ensure they are reducing risks," states the Health and safety: advice for schools guidance, which provides OS&H management guidance on the day-today running of school activities. This advice covers: implementing successful OS&H leadership, where health and safety policies are in place and form an integral part of the school culture and values; advice on how to devise such a policy; advice on training staff to assess risks specific for their job and on managing work-related stress.
