DWP ABSENCE HITS 10-DAY MARK

Sickness absence within the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) averaged 10.3 days per employee per year in the 12 months to December 2007, equivalent to a rate of 4.5% (based on a 228-day working year). The figure is marginally higher than the level reported in 2005, when absence across the department was 9.6 days per employee per year.rnIn common with all government departments, the DWP has started a new system of providing the Cabinet Office with quarterly reports on sickness absence levels.
