The latest annual absence survey from the CIPD-covering the period between 1 January and 31 December 2009 - reveals that the average level of employee absence remains at 7.7 days per member of staff, the same as recorded in the previous poll. However, absence caused by stress is rising. Over a third of employers report that stress-related absence has increased in the past year, with workloads, external relationships, organisational change/ restructuring and management styles the biggest causes of stress.
