CBI survey - the main findings

1. Average reported absence for 2009 was 6.4 days per employee per year, down from 6.4 days in 2007rn2. Average reported absence as a proportion of working time was 3.9% - up from 3.3% in 2007rn3. By extrapolating to the whole UK workforce, the CBI estimates that 180 million working days were lost across the economy in 2009, at a cost of ￡16.8 billion (based on salary costs).
