BARRIERS TO WORK

The Americans with Disability Act was passed on 26 July 1990 and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities have improved in the two decades since. Many previous articles have reported the work environment to be friendly to workers with disabilities but this is contrary to the high unemployment rates observed. Kaye and colleagues used a novel approach to examine the employers' perspective of why they do not hire and retain an employee with a disability.
