The Supreme Court is deciding whether or not time spent onshore by offshore oil and gas workers - on so-called field breaks - counts towards their entitlement to four weeks' paid annual leave under Article 7 of the Working Time Directive (2003/88/EC) and Regulation 13 of the Working Time Regulations 1998 (as amended) (WT Regulations). The case was heard on 26-27 October, but the Supreme Court had not handed down judgment by the time Occupational Health [at Work] went to press.
