An individualised physiotherapy-directed OH programme,focusing on improved ergonomics and stress management, appears to prevent deterioration in the physical health of schoolteachers, according to this cluster randomised controlled trial. However, the trial is described as a pilot study, and the conclusion is not underpinned by statistical analysis. Eight secondary schools in Austria were randomised to either the intervention or control groups. Based on an individual assessment, each teacher in the intervention schools was given a personalised training programme on preventing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and stress.
