The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) will introduce 'a proportionate and effective model of revalidation' by the end of 2015. All nurses and midwives will need to demonstrate that they remain fit to practice, a procedure that will include confirmation by a third party, such as an employer or manager, that they are complying with the NMC code.This confirmation will take account of feedback from patients, service users, carers and colleagues, says the NMC.
