A librarian with a disability was not discriminated against when her employer put her through a competitive interview process for redeployment instead of appointing her directly, the Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) has held. Mrs Wade had been employed by Sheffield Hallam University since 1980, initially as assistant librarian and eventually being promoted to 'information specialist'. She has a disability due to an allergic condition, and the university had previously allowed her to work off campus, principally at home, because of this.
