With the UK now set to leave, one may well ask what the EU has ever done for occupational health: apart from the rights to work and trade across the EU, a framework for OH and safety management, collaborative research, access to EU health services, equal treatment in employment, rights for pregnant women and new mothers, enhanced protection for disabled people, laws governing safer needles, hazardous substances, clean air, lead-free petrol, data protection, working time, noise, vibration, age discrimination, product safety and personal protective equipment... and a strategy on cross-border threats to public health.
