FIFTY-SEVEN per cent of workers in Britain would wear a health-monitoring device if their employer paid for it, an online survey of 1,249 working adults, for AXA PPP healthcare, reveals1. Of those who would wear a device, 58% 'would be comfortable to share the data generated with their employer if it helped with the organisation's employee health and wellbeing programmes'. Mobile health monitoring -'mHealth'- is an exciting new field, promising real-time, continuous data collection, potentially aiding disease prevention, detection and management, but more research is needed to assess the benefits, risks and data security, especially if it's going to be used at work.
