摘要

Bulgaria's plan to build two VVER-1000s at Belene has run up against major financing difficulties, as the country has asked Russia to renew a Eur4 billion (US$5.5 billion) export credit offer that Bulgaria declined last year, and suppliers remain unpaid pending resolution of the financing.rnIf money cannot be found to continue the work by Russian and European suppliers, the project might have to be stretched out, which would raise its cost and threaten its viability, rnindustry sources said this month.rnAlready, Bulgarian officials acknowledge the project is behind schedule and the first Belene unit will likely not be online in 2014, as is now planned.
