RWE npower/E.On UK team, EDF winning bidders in UK land auction

A consortium of RWE npower and E.On UK were the winning bidders for UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority land at Oldbury in Gloucestershire and at Wylfa in Wales, while EDF Energy was the winning bidder for the NDA land at Bradwell in Essex, the NDA said April 29. The three plots were being auctioned for use as potential sites for new nuclear power plants under 999-year leases from the NDA. The auction raised up to GBP387 million (US$572.3 million) for the NDA, it said. The NDA and EDF separately owned adjoining sites at Wylfa that were being auctioned together. NDA said that it and EDF would now work with the RWE npower/E.On UK consortium to complete the legal process for the transfer of ownership of the land at Wylfa in accordance with the sale contracts exchanged at the close of the auction.
