Summer, Vogtle projects enter peak construction phase: executives

The Summer and Vogtle plant expansion projects are entering their peak construction period, and several key modules are planned to be placed in the first units at each site in the coming months, executives of the utility owners said in conference calls last week with analysts to discuss financial results. Southern Company’s CEO Tom Fanning reported July 30 “impressive progress” at Vogtle, where two AP1000 units are being built at the site of two existing reactors.
