Five New England governors have offered policy solutions to strengthen winter electricity security for the region, including valuing the attributes of nuclear power. In an August 13 joint statement, the governors stressed the importance of evaluating ways to properly value existing clean energy resources. They cited the emissions-free baseload power of Dominion Energy’s Millstone in Connecticut and NextEra Energy’s 1,296-MW Seabrook in New Hampshire, which do not depend on natural gas infrastructure.
