摘要

Finland is not likely to build any more large reactors soon after completing those in the works but could be interested in future small modular units, energy minister Kimmo Tiilikainen said July 19 in a speech on energy security at the Atlantic Council. “It will be a long time before we see discussion of further licenses for nuclear power” using current technology, he said. The government is “following with interest” development of small reactors, although it will be decades before it is clear whether they are viable, he added. Finland, which relies on nuclear energy for about a third of its electricity generation, would phase out use of coal by 2029 under a government proposal to be taken up this fall, Tiilikainen said. He added that companies with coal units will be offered incentives to shut them by 2025.
