Fate of four plants may be decided in 2020: Exelon

The first half of 2020 will be a “critical” time for determining the future of four Exelon nuclear power plants in Illinois, Exelon President and CEO Chris Crane said October 31. By then, Exelon expects to have seen an order from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on the PJM Interconnection’s proposed capacity market overhaul and the grid operator’s response, and know the outcome of legislation in Illinois that would put the state on a path to 100% clean energy. The legislation now under discussion could give an economic boost to the company’s nuclear plants in the state.
