The Spallation Neutron Source, one of the world's leading sites for neutron-based materials experiments, is reported to be back in action, stable and available to researchers following a lengthy outage this fall and a "rocky" restart that was temporarily foiled by a power disruption. SNS Operations Manager Kevin Jones, in an email message, said SNS has been running consistently at 850 kilowatts since Nov. 30, with a daily availability to researchers of greater than 97 percent. That figure, if adjusted for the "rough start" on Nov. 28, is about 87 percent, he said.
