The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced Mexican authorities had acted to safely recover a dangerous radioactive source that abandoned in a field after the truck transporting it was stolen. Mexico's nuclear regulator, the Commission Nacional de Seguridad Nuclear y Salvaguardias (CNSNS), said the "delicate and complex recovery operation" was carefully planned to ensure minimal radiation exposure to those involved in the work and to prevent damage to the source.
