The Federal Court of Australia has ordered a trial to begin next June next year over a proposed radioactive waste disposal site at Muckaty Station in the Northern Territory. A group of traditional owners contend that the federal government's selection of the land for the country's first national radioactive waste dump was invalid because the Northern Land Council (NLC) did not properly identify the traditional Aboriginal owners of the land which was chosen.
