Port Hope UF_6 plant slowed by worker walkout

As of september 3, Cameco Corporation's Port Hope uranium conversion facility was about 1000 tonnes behind its 2004 production target of 12 500 tonnes uranium. The shortfall is a result of a workers' strike that began on July 28, when about 200 hourly workers represented by the United Steelworkers of America voted 69 percent against a new three-year contract and began strike action at midnight. Cameco spokesperson Lyle Krahn reported on September 3 that there was no common ground identified to resolve the strike.
