Consortium takes over Olkiluoto-3 site

With preparatory work completed, TVO hands over the EPR site to Framatome ANP and Siemens Power Generation, who are supplying the plant. The utility teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO) on February 1 turned over the Olkiluoto-3 construction site to the consortium supplying the plant, as scheduled. The Olkiluoto-3 project will be the first European Pressurized water Reactor (EPR) to be built by Framatome ANP Inc. (a joint subsidiary of Areva and Siemens AG). The second partner in the consortium, Siemens Power Generation, will supply the turbine island. Since awarding the contract in December 2003, TVO had been responsible for preparatory work at the site. This included excavation work for the power plant buildings, the construction of cooling-water tunnels, and the implementation of infrastructure measures such as road development and provision of the site's power and water supply.
