A beginning, a continuation, and an ending

As with all things in life, as some things are ending (or wrapping up), others are beginning. And still others are continuations in between those beginnings and endings. A beginning: In this issue of Nuclear News is the traditional annual article that introduces ANS members to their new leader for the year. For 2006-2007, Harold Mc-Farlane, last year's vice president/president-elect, took the reins as the 52nd president of the society at the end of the ANS Annual Meeting held in Reno, Nev., last month. McFarlane, director of the Space Nuclear Systems and Technology Division at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), has had a varied career, with time spent as a college professor and a researcher, and in management positions at Argonne-West and INL.
