Farewell to a great boss

Not many people get to work 26 years for one boss and thoroughly enjoy it. I'm one of the lucky ones. That boss was Clyde Vogeley, who managed the Bettis Reactor Engineering School at Bettis Laboratory in Pittsburgh from 1959 until he retired in 1992. I joined Clyde's staff in 1966 and was there when he left. I'm sad to report that Clyde Vogeley died on February 23, 2006, at age 88. This column is a low-key tribute (because Clyde was a low-key, publicity-shy person) to a man who made it a pleasure for me to come to the office each day and do work I loved.
