An order imposing additional fingerprinting and criminal history check requirements on U.S. research and test reactors (RTR) has been issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, in accordance with the provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.rnThe NRC said on May 1 that RTRs must now ensure that persons currently allowed unescorted access to the facilities, or those requesting such access, be fingerprinted and undergo a criminal history check by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The NRC already requires RTRs to perform these checks on employees with access to sensitive security information.
