The ap 1000 final ser could be issued in december 2010,and the rulemaking to confirm the certification of the design could be completed in August 2011, according to an April 3 letter from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to Westinghouse Electric Company. The NRC certified the design of the AP1000, an advanced pressurized water reactor, in 2006, based on Revision 15 of the design control document. Westinghouse's customers encouraged design modifications that were included in Revision 16, which has been cited in the customers' applications for combined construction and operating licenses.
