Global Laser Enrichment announces a milestone in the licensing path of its proposed laser-based uranium enrichment facility. Global Laser Enrichment (GLE), a business venture of General Electric Company, Hitachi Ltd., and Cameco Corporation, on January 30 filed with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission one part of a license application to build a laser-based uranium enrichment plant. The company said on February 4 that the filing of this portion of the overall application-the environmental report-was a key milestone in the licensing path of the proposed plant. The remainder of the application is scheduled to be submitted by June.
