The Nuclear Industry's Rising Star: Five Star Products, Inc.

In what has been called a nuclear renaissance, there are surprisingly few vendors qualified to specify certain products that can be used in the "safety zone" of nuclear power plants. That's partially due to the rigorous standards required: In the nuclear industry, safety and quality are not just corporate buzzwords; they are an essential way of life. Three main regulatory and industry codes govern products and processes allowed in the safety zone: 10CFR50 Appendix B, put forth by the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission); the more stringent NQA-1, specified by the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), and 10CFR21, a process for reporting any potential defects.
