New-build venture named NuGeneration

A consortium of three power companies planning to build new nuclear plants in Britain has completed setting up a joint venture company under the name NuGeneration Ltd., or NuGen. The group, made up of GDF Suez, Iberdrola, and Scottish and Southern Energy, secured an option on land in West Cumbria in October 2009 with the aim of building up to 3.6 GWe of new nuclear capacity, with the first unit starting operation by 2023.
