LNER tender saved for new-build B17 Manchester United (now to be dual-named Sir Alex Ferguson?)

Lner Group Standard tender No. 041249 - bought by the North British Locomotive Preservation Group from a Doncaster scrapyard, where it had langusihed for more than 20 years (RM Feb) - was successfully recovered on April 16. The chassis, body and tank were separately lifted clear of the yard and reassembled onto a Moveright International transporter, which delivered the tender on April 18 to the Mizens Railway, Surrey, where it will be restored. The tender, and replica B17 cab being constructed by the NBLPG, form part of the project to build a new B17 4-6-0 No. 61662 Manchester United. The group is now considering the possibility of also applying a Sir Alex Ferguson nameplate to the loco.
