S.C. nonprofit aids SMR developers seeking grants

NuHub, a consortium of public, private, academic, and business interests promoting nuclear industry in South Carolina, entered into partnerships with NuScale and Holtec International in April to assist the two companies in their bids to secure funding from the Department of Energy for the development of small modular reactors (AW, Apr. 2012, p. 84). Grant applications were due on May 21, and the awardees of the funding-totaling up to $452 million-are expected to be announced this summer.
