NRC begins closeouts on mitigation bulletin

While U.S. power reactor licensees are still in the early stages of addressing orders and information requests issued in March by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in response to the Fukushima Daiichi accident (AW, Apr. 2012, p. 17), some of them have reached the end of a review process begun shortly after the March 2011 event in Japan. From April 2 through 23, the licensees of 14 reactors were informed that the NRC staff has found their responses to Bulletin 2011-01, Mitigating Strategies, to be acceptable, and that for these reactors the agency considers the issues raised in the bulletin to be closed.
