YUCCA CLOSEOUT REFLECTED IN DOE, NRC BUDGET REQUESTS

The Obama Administration made clear in today's Fiscal Year 2012 budget request that it will continue to move its focus, and funds, away from the Yucca Mountain spent nuclear fuel repository-the agency did not seek any funds for the project, which was last appropriated $98 million in FY 2010. "The Administration has determined that developing a repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada, is not a workable option," DOE wrote in the request, released today.
