Imagine that you are standing in the middle of a road with a friend when he says, "Look, there is a truck bearing down on us." A reasonable response might be, "Let's get off the road." But we don't seem to be interested in reasonable actions any more. Instead, you should say, "I don't approve of what that truck driver is doing. He is consuming pre- cious resources and contributing to global warming. Let's make him pay a carbon tax to get him to mend his immoral ways."
