Oskarshamn-Ⅰ will close at end of June 2017

Nuclear operator OKG announced on February 16 that it would close Oskar-shamn-1 at the end of June 2017 to coincide with a planned outage. Since last October, OKG had been saying that the closure of the reactor would be between 2017 and 2019. That followed the decision made by EON, OKG's main shareholder, to commence the closure of Oskarshamn-1 by the end of 2019. EON also decided not to resume operation of Oskarshamn-2, which was in the final stage of a major upgrade that started in June 2013.
