Dr. Conca is quite correct in his article "Putting climate change into perspective" (NN, Aug., p. 152) in that the world's nations have not been fulfilling their pledges to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and that even these pledges are not sufficient to reduce emissions to zero any time soon. But he is dead wrong in saying that the resulting climate change is not a serious concern. We need energy, but we must produce it without contributing to climate change.
