The ANS Education, Training and Workforce Development Division

The Education, Training and Workforce Development Division (ETWDD), which has been known by different names throughout the years, has provided a space for academic, industrial, and governmental communities to come together to discuss important issues surrounding nuclear education and training. The division involves a diverse membership of academic faculty, nuclear training professionals, technical staff members at national laboratories and industry, and students, all focused on nuclear engineering curriculum, K-12 educational outreach, training excellence, and content and process issues related to education and the resulting workforce development pipelines. ETWDD has more than 1,000 members and the majority of them are involved with ANS through technical divisions, in addition to ETWDD. This plays to ETWDD's strength as a cross-cutting division that is intended to coordinate and enhance discussion around educational and training issues in all divisions. This integrating function makes ETWDD unique in ANS's division structure. Participation in the division is diverse and tends to ebb and flow, based on the needs of other areas of the Society. In addition to supporting the technical divisions, ETWDD has made a strong effort to integrate its activities with the Young Members Group and student members to provide robust discussions about cross-cutting issues.
