China's First Hualong One Reactor Starts Commercial Operation

China National Nuclear Corp. (CNNC) said the first of its domestically designed Hualong One units, a third-generation PWR design, began commercial operation on January 30. Unit 5 (1,000 MWe PWR) at the Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant in China's southeastern Fujian province was first connected to the grid on November 27 last year, following more than five years of construction.
