Legislation aimed at supporting theUS nuclear fuel cycle advanced thisweek with the Senate Committee onEnvironment and Public Works (EPW)approving a bipartisan bill, entitled theAmerican Nuclear Infrastructure Act(ANIA) (S.4897).Among other provisions, the bill,which was approved in a 16-5 voteon December 2, includes an annualprogram for a US Strategic UraniumReserve, which would provideassurance of the availability of uraniumrecovered in the USA in the event of amarket disruption and support strategicfuel cycle capabilities within the nation.
