Niger's Cominak Uranium Mine to Close in 2021

The Cominak Uranium Mine in thenorthern Arlit region of Niger, will ceaseproduction on March 31, 2021, due tothe depletion of ore reserves.The Akouta Mining Co., which operatesthe Cominak Mine in the West Africannation, announced the mine closure datefollowing a board of directors meetingon October 23. The mine is one of twoin Niger that French nuclear companyOrano (formerly AREVA) holds majorityownership interests. Orano owns a34 percent interest in the Cominak Mineand holds a 64.4 percent share in theSomair Mine.
