Diverse Group Of Experts Issue Recommendations For Nuke Power

A disparate group of nuclear scientists and experts are recommending a number of policies that should be implemented in conjunction with a renaissance of nuclear power around the world, according to a set of principles published last week in the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists. Chairing the group were James Asselstine, John Ahearne and Allison Macfarlane, three nuclear experts whose support for new nuclear falls at drastically different ends of the nuclear energy policy spectrum-which makes their findings on how best to structure an expansion of nuclear power internationally even more poignant. The report discusses nuclear as one of the "new forms of low-emissions, base-load power generating capacity" whose implementation "global warming necessitates."
