Following on from the inaugural conference of the European Nuclear Energy Forum, held in Bratislava, Slovakia on 26-27 November 2007, three groups of high level nuclear experts have staged meetings and circulated papers.rnThe transparency group is tasked with developing good practice regarding informing the public about nuclear energy, "to build up trust and confidence" notably by "giving access to all non-sensitive information." It has also held an initial meeting, where one emerging idea was the need to show how the nuclear industry was subject to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Aarhus convention on environmental information. This would "build up trust and participation" amongst the public, as regards the management of the nuclear industry.rnA worthy goal, but one, claimed Greenpeace (which is part of this working group) that is very far from being attained. Its central Europe nuclear advisor Jan Haverkamp wrote in a meeting paper: "Current transparency levels on nuclear issues are abominable within the European Union. Personally I have seldom received any requested document except for those already published in ongoing environmental impact assessments (EIAs). Many received documents were of poor quality and even the most basic data were not provided out of confidentiality reasons."
